Rocky Medical Clinic is a busy clinic. It is the only clinic in town. On call rotations for emergency and obstetrics. EMR well used. Staff include receptionists, office manager, billing clerks, and an RN/LPN. Primary Care Network is located in the same building. The Town of Rocky Mountain House is 7,000, and the surrounding County of Clearwater hosts an additional 13,000. The County includes a large geographic region stretching west to the BC boundary, north to Alder Flats, south to Caroline and east to Eckville. In the west country there are three First Nations Reserves, (Sunchild, O'Chiese and BigHorn) with a total population of xxxx. There has been steady growth of both town and county population numbers for several years. Rocky's primary industries are farming, logging, recreation and oil and gas. The warm months of the year bring large numbers of campers, hikers, quadders, dirt bikers, hunters and horse back riders into the western playground. This recreational activity increases ER trauma from April to November. The community of RMH has an 80 bed Good Samaritan Society seniors residence which opened in xxxx. The 80 beds include a vibrant mixture of Long Term Care Supportive Living, Assisted Living and Independant Living accomodations. Many seniors housing options are currently available, and construction is underway for an additional Seniors Lodge. Due to recreation, oil and gas industry and the First Nations populations, the community as a whole is young compared to others in Alberta farming communities. The community of RMH demonstrates lots of support for local medical services. The Town and County have created a Physician Recruitment and Retention Society which have implemented many strategies to retain the current physician base and to encourage additional doctors to settle in our community.
